New Jersey Market Leader

SI Engineering, P.C. is a 125+ person full-service consulting engineering firm providing services in civil, structural, transportation engineering, bridge & facility inspection, project & program management, construction management & inspection and lighting design. We are engaged in local community improvement projects to large, high-profile, multi-billion-dollar infrastructure projects with a strong reputation of delivering a wide range of projects for our clients in the public sector.  
 
We are headquartered in New York, NY with multiple regional offices in the NY metropolitan area, including our newest office in Princeton, NJ.

We are expanding our footprint in New Jersey, focusing on public infrastructure clients such as New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), NJ Turnpike Authority, NJ Transit, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ), and as a result are looking to hire a market leader to drive our company’s growth in the New Jersey infrastructure market.

Job Summary:
The New Jersey Market Leader will represent SIE externally in the Business Community and serve as the critical Point-of-Contact (POC) for external communication including pursuits, project delivery, recruitment, and business/commercial functions. They will be responsible for leading our New Jersey operations, developing a strong client base, and growing our presence in the region. This role involves strategic planning, business development, project management, team leadership, and talent acquisition. The successful candidate will leverage their industry expertise and relationships to drive growth and ensure the successful delivery of projects.

General Qualities and Skills:
  • Experience and knowledge of business development as it pertains to the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (A/E/C) industry.
  • Existing Client network and relationships in SIE’s Target Sectors of within construction inspection, bridge inspection, and engineering design services for public infrastructure projects
  • Proven record of increasing business development and sales success.
  • Proven record of increasing leadership responsibility and expertise including: decision making, flexibility, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and accountability.
  • Strong leadership/management skills and is a proactive self-starter.
  • Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional communications skills including: ability to communicate at audience's level; excellent writing and verbal skills.

Responsibilities:
Business Development: Identify, pursue, and capture new business opportunities with public infrastructure clients in New Jersey.  Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and partner firms. Lead the complete business development life cycle process from identification, positioning, proposal, and negotiation through delivery and close out. Lead/prepare proposals with support from marketing and other technical support disciplines for all NJ regional business development opportunities. Lead/participate in regional business community, industry events, and marketing activities on behalf of the firm.

Operational Project Direction/Management: Oversee service/project delivery, initially in construction inspection and bridge inspection services, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, meeting the client’s and SIE’s Quality Assurance Standards.

Talent Acquisition: Identify and attract top talent to join the New Jersey office. Oversee the hiring process, including interviewing, selecting, and onboarding new employees.

Team Leadership: Build, lead, and manage staff, potentially utilizing resources and/or imported project work from other offices. Recruit and hire additional staff as needed to support growth.

Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies to grow the firm's presence and relevance in the New Jersey market. Collaborate with senior leadership to align regional goals with the firm's overall strategic objectives.

Client Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients in New Jersey. Ensure client satisfaction and address any issues or concerns promptly.

Financial Management: Manage the regional office's budget, track financial performance, and ensure profitability. Identify and pursue opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.

Market Analysis: Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities in New Jersey. Use this information to inform business development and strategic planning efforts.

Qualifications and Experience:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A Master's degree would be desirable.

Experience: Minimum of 20 years of experience in the A/E/C industry, with a focus on public infrastructure projects. Experience with Target Market Sectors and Clients such as NJDOT, NJ Turnpike Authority, NJ Transit, or PANYNJ. Proven experience in business development, project management, and team leadership.

Licensing: Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey or ability to obtain licensure within six months.  

Additional Information:
This position offers a competitive salary range of $225,000 to $275,000, commensurate with experience, along with benefits and opportunities for professional growth. The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding our firm's presence in the New Jersey market and driving our continued success.
